NEW DELHI, April 12 KTM has officially launched its first enduro motorcycle in India, the KTM 390 Enduro R, priced at ₹3.36 lakh (ex-showroom). This new offering is aimed at hardcore off-road enthusiasts, building on the platform of the next-generation KTM 390 Adventure, but with a sharper off-road focus, stripped-down design, and advanced suspension setup.

KTM 390 Enduro R: Engine & Performance

Under the hood, the 390 Enduro R packs the familiar yet potent 399 cc LC4c single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine:

  • Power: 45.3 bhp

  • Torque: 39 Nm

  • Transmission: 6-speed gearbox

  • Cooling: Liquid-cooled
This is the same engine used in the 390 Adventure, tuned for spirited performance in tough terrains.

Suspension, Brakes & Wheels: Built for Serious Off-Roading

The India-spec version is slightly more accessible and tuned for local terrain:

  • Front Suspension: 43 mm USD forks, 205 mm travel

  • Rear Suspension: Monoshock, 200 mm travel

  • Brakes: 285 mm front disc, 240 mm rear disc

  • Tyres: 21-inch front & 18-inch rear spoke wheels, wrapped in Mitas Trail+ dual-purpose tyres

  • Ground Clearance: 253 mm

  • Seat Height: 860 mm (lower than global spec’s 890 mm)

Braking and control are enhanced with switchable dual-channel ABS and traction control, crucial for off-road environments.

Design & Features: Minimalist, Lightweight, Tech-Packed

Drawing inspiration from KTM’s larger enduro machines, the 390 Enduro R boasts:

  • Minimal bodywork, high front beak, and flat single-piece seat

  • Compact headlamp and reduced body panels for weight savings

  • Kerb weight: Just 177 kg, 5 kg lighter than the global version

  • 4.1-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, offering:

    • Turn-by-turn navigation

    • Music controls

    • Call alerts

The bike includes two riding modes but skips cruise control, which is reserved for the more road-focused 390 Adventure and Duke models.

Positioning & Rivals

The KTM 390 Enduro R will be slotted between the 390 Adventure X and 390 Adventure S in KTM’s lineup. While it doesn’t have a direct rival in India yet, it will likely appeal to buyers considering the Kawasaki KLX230, priced in a similar bracket, and enthusiasts seeking an affordable, lightweight, high-performance off-roader.
