Mercedes brings back its flagship AMG GT range with two performance-packed models, marking the brand’s fourth and fifth launches in India for 2025.
AMG GT Series Returns to India After Five YearsMercedes-Benz India has officially announced the launch of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and AMG GT 63 Pro on June 27, 2025, reviving the high-performance GT lineup after a five-year hiatus. The first-generation AMG GT was discontinued in India in 2020, and the second-generation models now arrive with significant upgrades in size, performance, and practicality.
Unveiled globally in August 2023, the new GT 63 models are larger, more powerful, and more feature-rich than their predecessors. With this launch, Mercedes completes its fourth and fifth model introductions for 2025, out of the eight planned launches announced earlier this year.
Enhanced Design, Bigger Dimensions, and 2+2 SeatingThe second-gen AMG GT models have grown significantly in size—182mm longer, 45mm wider, and 66mm taller, with a 70mm longer wheelbase—resulting in improved cabin space and better usability. The design continues to reflect AMG’s hallmark styling, but with modern aerodynamic refinements and new lighting elements.
Unlike the earlier two-seater version, the new AMG GT now comes with a 2+2 seating configuration, adding practicality to its sporty character. The interior features include an AMG-specific steering wheel, sport seats with integrated headrests, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 11.9-inch vertically oriented infotainment screen.
V8 Power and 4Matic+ All-Wheel Drive PerformanceBoth the AMG GT 63 and GT 63 Pro are powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, paired with a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and AMG’s 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system.
-
GT 63 delivers 576 bhp and 800 Nm, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 315 km/h.
-
GT 63 Pro gets a power boost with 612 hp and 850 Nm, maintaining the same 0–100 km/h time, but achieving 0–200 km/h in just 10.9 seconds, and a higher top speed of 317 km/h.
As the more performance-focused variant, the GT 63 Pro features several mechanical and aerodynamic upgrades:
-
Enhanced engine cooling systems
-
Larger brakes and lighter wheels
-
Improved tires for better grip
-
Additional aerodynamic improvements that add 15 kg more rear downforce and reduce front lift by 30 kg compared to the standard GT 63.
These refinements make the Pro variant more suitable for track enthusiasts without compromising on daily usability.
