MSNBC's Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough is going viral for his shock when he learned the price of butter on the show from his wife and co-host Mike Brzezinski. “A few weeks ago… somebody who was going to be voting for Kamala Harris came up to me and said ‘oh my God, Trump’s going to win. I asked why is that. 'I go to the grocery store butter is over $3,'” the former Florida Congressman said.
“I kinda laughed and I said well that’s kinda reductive isn’t it, I said it to myself,” Scarborough said and added that to that person, he just said, "Good going." It was then that his co-host interrupted and added that butter is actually $7.
“Butter is $7… What, is it framed in gold?” Scarborough was shocked. “It’s seven bucks…. it depends where you go,” Brzezinski added. A chart displaying NBC exit poll data showing that 31 per cent of Americans feel that their economic situation was excellent and 68 per cent felt it was poor was displayed on the screen.
“If you look at the cost of groceries, if you look at the cost of gas, if you look at the cost of things compared to four years ago it was a very simple answer for working-class Americans. Things didn't cost so much,” Scarborough said.
Scarborough is a former Republican and served as a GOP Congressman but left politics after the party embraced Donald Trump. On the show, he was dissecting what could have led to the landslide Republican win.
"I mean, you don’t have to be a Republican, though I was a Republican. You don’t have to be a conservative, though I was a conservative, to understand that seeing ad after ad in NFL football games, saying that taxpayers were going to be funding transgender surgeries for inmates, it’s not something that is going to play well in Wisconsin, in Michigan, in Pennsylvania, among men.," Scarborough said.

On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough is still trying to square how Kamala Harris lost so bad and was SHOCKED to learn about the high price of groceries.
