NEW DELHI: Jodhpur police have arrested a wanted criminal named Daya Shankar , who dressed as a woman in an attempt to escape the authorities.
Visuals of his arrest went viral on social media, showing him wearing a saree, petticoat and blouse. In the video, he can be seen covering his face as the police take him into custody and escort him to the police station.
The video sparked reactions from netizens. One user wrote, "The Jodhpur police had gone after him many times before, but he was never caught. He used to sit outside in a saree. This time, the police finally caught him.”
Another user commented, “The officers who went to arrest history-sheeter Daya Shankar were shocked to find him disguised as a woman, wearing a sari, blouse and veil. When the police entered the house, he tried to signal that Daya Shankar was not at home. But the police saw through the trick and immediately caught him hiding behind the veil.”
“This incident is both amusing and a reminder that no matter how clever the disguise, the law is always watching. It highlights the police’s alertness and experience in dealing with such criminals,” the user added.
