Mysuru-Darbhanga Express Express train was travelling at 90km/h when it collided with goods train: What we know so far

Mysore to Darbhanga Bhagmati Express on Friday collided with a stationary goods train near Kavaraipettai railway station in Tamil Nadu . Few coaches were derailed, and a fire broke out in coaches of the express train.

Rescue operations by local authorities are currently underway. Further details regarding the extent of the damage and casualties are still awaited.

  • Two compartments caught fire in the collision and four A/C compartments were derailed.

  • After crossing the Ponneri signal, the train collided with the goods train
  • The collision caused a heavy jerk, leading to the derailment
  • The train was reportedly travelling at around 90 km/hr before it switched lines that may have resulted in the crash
  • Both UP and DOWN train movements have been stopped
