CHENNAI: The picturesque East Coast Road in Chennai saw two tragedies Saturday afternoon. First, a 20-year-old woman died in a bike accident .
About 30 minutes later, her friend and collegemate, also aged 20, killed himself by jumping in front of a bus, reports Selvaraj A.
The deceased were identified as S Yogeshwaran of Uthiramerur and E Sabarina of Madurantakam, both third-year engineering students of a college at Padalam.
Police said they were returning to the college on a bike after a visit to Mamallapuram. Around 12.30pm, a Puducherry Road Transport Corporation bus rear-ended the bike.
Sabarina was declared dead in hospital, and hearing the news, Yogeshwaran ran onto ECR and jumped in front of a bus and was crushed to death.
