Diljit Dosanjh – now part of syllabus in Canadian University; highlighting his impact on 'global pop culture'

Diljit Dosanjh, who is an actor and singer, has added another achievement to his list. He will now be a part of the syllabus at the Toronto Metropolitan University in Canada. This course will be offered through The Creative School at the university and was announced at the Billboard Summit at NXNE in Toronto.

“His journey stands for cultural pride”For Dosanjh’s manager, Sonali Singh, who serves as CEO of Ripple Effects, the announcement represents more than just academic recognition. “His journey stands for cultural pride, creative freedom, and global representation for Punjabi and South Asian communities,” she told Billboard Canada. “Seeing his impact formally recognised in an academic space is not only powerful; it's long overdue.”


‘Mo Ghoneim,’ President of Billboard UK and Canada, also praised the move. “He represents the very heart of this global movement, and we’re excited to see his story enter the classroom,” he added.


Banned cinema but better newsThe announcement came just hours before Dosanjh's new film, ‘Sardaar Ji 3,’ was confirmed for a release only in foreign countries on June 27, with the trailer getting blocked in India. The move has instigated massive waves online. The netizens are accusing the actor of betraying national sentiment due to the film’s casting of Pakistani actors like Hania Aamir, Nasir Chinyoti, and Daniel Khawar, especially in the situation where India-Pakistan tensions are at a heightened emotion after the Pahalgam terror attack in April.
