Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday launched an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah , and the leadership of the RSS-BJP accusing them of promoting a "well-planned campaign" of making statements inciting violence against her brother, Rahul Gandhi .
"Is raising the voice of crores of Dalits, backward, tribals, and poor people of the country such a big crime that BJP has started threatening the Leader of Opposition 'that his fate would be like that of his grandmother'?", said Priyanka Gandhi.
Priyanka Gandhi described BJP's remarks as part of a coordinated effort to silence dissent. "One after the other, violent, indecent, and inhuman statements prove that this is an organised and well-planned campaign, which is extremely dangerous for the democracy of the country," she added.
Priyanka Gandhi alleged that the verbal and ideological assaults on Rahul Gandhi had increased because he was raising concerns about the marginalised communities across India.
She further critiqued the BJP leadership’s lack of intervention and said, "Even more dangerous is the prime minister, home minister, and the entire RSS-BJP leadership encouraging it and not taking any action".
Raising concerns about the state of Indian democracy , she said, "Do the people of the RSS-BJP now want to make violence and hatred the key mantra of democracy?"
The remarks come following a formal complaint filed by the Congress Party , citing recent statements by BJP and NDA leaders targeting Rahul Gandhi.
All India Congress Committee treasurer Ajay Maken submitted the complaint to the Tughlaq Road police station, demanding FIRs against BJP leaders Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Raghuraj Singh, and Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad. The Congress has accused these leaders of making provocative remarks aimed at threatening Rahul Gandhi’s security ahead of elections in Jammu and Kashmir , as well as Haryana.
