AGRA: An 18-year-old class 10 student, who sells flowers and puja items at the Bateshwar Ghat in Agra, rescued four youths from drowning in the treacherous waters of Yamuna river as they were being pulled into the deep side during Ganesh visarjan (immersion).

The Firozabad youths had ventured further into the waters while immersing a Ganesh idol on Tuesday evening when they found themselves struggling against strong currents. Mohini Goswami , a student of Government Girls Inter College, jumped into the river without hesitation to save them. She swam and brought the boys safely to the shore.

Mohini's selfless act earned her praise from local residents and officials alike, prompting the manager of the nearby ancient Shiva temple to recommend her for a reward from the administration.

Speaking about her daughter's heroic deed, mother Anita said, "Mohini has been fond of swimming since childhood. Despite my attempts to discourage her, she managed to make time for it. Little did I know that one day she would save four lives. I am proud of her."
