Mukesh Khanna punches the air as he reacts to people accusing him of mimicking Amitabh Bachchan: 'There are people who copy others on purpose'

Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, best known for his unforgettable portrayals in Mahabharat and Shaktimaan, has never shied away from expressing his thoughts candidly—often sparking debates and disagreements along the way. Khanna recently revisited a long-standing comparison between his acting style and that of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan during a recent podcast appearance.

During his appearance on Uncensored with Shardul, Khanna humorously enacted a punch directed at thin air, symbolising his frustration over the repeated remarks that he imitates Bachchan. Refuting the claims with a touch of wit and defiance, he said, “When God creates the mould for a person, I think mine and Amitabh Bachchan’s moulds got mixed. That is why people say, ‘Look, he is copying Amit Ji’. If I had come before him, people would have said that Amitabh copies Mukesh Khanna. There are people who copy others on purpose, but in this case, Amit Ji has the same height, body, and way of speaking,” he shared, clarifying that a person cannot mimic another for two and a half hours.

This isn’t the first instance where the actor has voiced his displeasure regarding such assumptions. In a previous interview with Hindi Rush, Khanna shared an anecdote about a man who approached him after watching his advertisement. According to the actor, the man relayed Amitabh’s supposed reaction to the ad: “He told me that Amit Ji saw the ad and said, ‘Saala copy karta hai (He’s copying me).’ The sentence stayed in his mind, even though he didn’t believe Amitabh had actually said that.
