Ankit Siwach says Bollywood insiders get 'insecure' when television actors enter the industry: 'You can see their behaviour change drastically'

Actor Ankit Siwach, known for his unique performances in various television series, was recently seen in the web series 'Kull' alongside Nimrat Kaur, Amol Parashar, and Ridhi Dogra. He has now addressed the longstanding discussion about the challenges television actors face when entering Bollywood.

Ankit about Bollywood vs Television

In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actor shed light on the underlying prejudice he has experienced after stepping into the film and OTT space. According to him, television artists are often not granted the same respect as their counterparts in the film industry.

“I want the perception to shift, as it’s very hurtful and disheartening. I’ve personally felt it. Suppose there’s a group of actors, filmmakers, or others sitting together at a party — they’re all happy and comfortable, knowing that someone like me is working in television. That gives them a sense of superiority if they’re doing films,” he revealed.

He further described the subtle changes in behaviour once a TV actor ventures into new platforms like web series or films.

“But once you start transitioning to web and films, you can see their behaviour change drastically. They become insecure,” he added.

Ankit also noted that this behaviour makes it clear that they were comfortable with him only when he was working in television, as they considered it inferior to films. He admits that even if no one ever directly says anything to him or other TV actors who move into films, their silence is telling.

“Everyone can sense it. When they see that a TV actor is now among them, they suddenly start seeing you as a threat,” he stated.

Ankit remains proud of his television roots and the dedication it demands. He also shared that television deserves equal respect to web content, cinema, and other platforms due to the effort, passion, and talent it entails.

Upcoming movie

Ankit is currently gearing up for the release of '120 Bahadur' with Farhan Akhtar. The film is expected to hit cinemas in November this year.
