Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had their meet-cute moment during the shoot of a shampoo advertisement in the year 2013. Talking to AB de Villers, Virat Kohli said that he was nervous while shooting for a commercial with Anushka Sharma. A nervous Virat started their conversation in an ‘Awkward’ manner where the cricketer asked Anushka, “Didn't you get anything higher to wear?”, to which the ‘Rab Ne Banadi Jodi’ actress replied, “Excuse me?” Soon both of them got connected and later in one of the interviews Anushka revealed that one of the qualities that she liked about Virat was his ability to memorize things. She said playfully, “Iski memory bahut achi hai. This will help me.”
“Where it all started”
According to Sports Time 247, Anushka Sharma revealed that at her first meet with Virat, she thought he was arrogant and this thought faded as soon as they started having a good conversation. Anushka said that Virat appeared very easygoing, intelligent, and funny. Recalling the moment when their relationship started she said in an interview, “I had called my friends over for dinner to celebrate my new house. I invited him too. That’s where it started.”
“We spent 21 days together”
Talking to Vogue in 2020, Anushka Sharma said that amid their busy working schedules, they manage to spend time together. She shared, “During the first six months of our marriage, we spent 21 days together. Yes, I calculated.” The actress further stated that as their time together is limited, they savor every moment, which she considers ‘precious’ time for the celebrity couple. Virat Kohli said in the same interview that they live each day loving each other and their relationship has always been about love and nothing else.
“We aren’t perfect parents”
At Slurrp Farm's Yes Mom & Dads event held in September this year, Anushka revealed that they are not perfect parents, as they often complain about things, which she said is not a good example to set for their kids. Anushka said, “"We are not perfect parents; we will complain about things, and it is okay to admit it to them as well. This way, they know that you are flawed. Imagine kids feeling they have to live up to, 'Oh, my parents are like this.' Owning your mistakes makes it easier."
“He always stood up for the right thing”
When Virat Kohli decided to quit test captaincy after India lost the Test series with South Africa, an emotional Anushka shared an Instagram note that read, “I remember the day in 2014 when you told me that you have been made the captain as MS had decided to retire from test cricket. I remember MS, you and I having a chat later that day and him joking about how quickly your beard will start turning grey. We all had a good laugh about it. Since that day, I've seen more than just your beard turning grey.”
She further wrote, “We all had a good laugh about it. Since that day, I’ve seen more than just your beard turning grey. I’ve seen growth. Immense growth. Around you & within you. And yes, I am very proud of your growth as the captain of the Indian National Cricket team & what achievements the team had under your leadership. But I’m more proud of the growth you achieved within you.”
Anushka concluded by saying, “You are not perfect & have your flaws but then again when did you ever try to conceal that? What you did was to always stand up for doing the right thing, the harder thing, always! You held on to nothing with greed, not even this position & I know that. Because when one holds on to something so tightly they limit themselves & you, my love, are limitless. Our daughter will see the learning of these 7 years in the father that you are to her. You did good.”
