Koraput: Protesting against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Hindu Jagaran Manch observed a dawn-to-dusk bandh in Malkangiri district on Friday.
"We strongly condemn the attack in Pahalgam. The attackers must be brought to justice without delay. The govt should initiate necessary military and diplomatic action," said Dinesh Patnaik, one of the protesters.
The bandh saw widespread participation across the district, with shops and business establishments remaining closed. Public transport services were largely disrupted.
Protesters took out a rally in the district headquarters town, expressing solidarity with the victims and calling for national action. "We did not force anyone to shut their businesses. People have voluntarily supported the bandh and shut their establishments," said Balraj Padhi, another protester.
Later, the outfit submitted a memorandum to the district administration demanding swift action against the attackers. Police said adequate security arrangements were made for the bandh and no untoward incident was reported.
