Jaipur: Two members of a family from Uttar Pradesh were killed and five others injured in a road accident early Friday morning when their car collided with a container truck on the Dausa-Kothun highway in Tonk district.
The crash took place around 7am near Hingonia turn in the Datwas area, when the family, travelling in an Ertiga, was on its way to the Khatu Shyam Ji temple in Sikar. The impact of the collision sent the car veering off the road, trapping the passengers inside. Nearby villagers rushed to the scene and pulled the injured out of the mangled vehicle. Police soon reached the spot and transported all seven occupants to a govt hospital in Tonk's Niwai town, where doctors declared two of them dead on arrival.
Datwas SHO Kalu Ram Verma said the deceased were identified as Lakshmi, 60, and Bhagwan Singh, 32. Their bodies were sent for postmortem and later handed over to the family. The five others, including a teenager, sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment.
The injured include Varsha, 19, Khushi, 22, Vikas, 22, and Raju, 28, all residents of the same village. All of them are relatives and belong to Kandola village in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh.
