Govt teachers seek clarity on review of Eng medium schools

Jaipur: The Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers' Association has demanded that the state govt to swiftly conduct a review of English medium schools and provide clarity on their status. Teachers stated that the committee tasked with reviewing the state's 3,737 English medium schools met; however, the actual conditions prevailing in these schools are still undetermined.

Vipin Prakash Sharma, State President of the Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers' Association, appealed to the Chief Minister to convert English medium schools suffering from infrastructural shortcomings back to Hindi medium. He added that in those English medium schools with proper infrastructure, teachers should be deployed.

"The state govt has started a provisional admission process for its schools, yet there has been no communication or directive regarding the English medium schools, thereby placing both parents and teachers in a state of confusion about the next course of action," said Sharma.

At present, around 7,00,000 students are enrolled in Mahatma Gandhi schools, with no teachers available throughout the current academic session, said Sharma.

On Jan 3, the state govt formed a four-member ministerial committee to review the upgradation of govt schools to Mahatma Gandhi English medium schools by the previous Congress govt. In the state, over 3,700 govt schools were upgraded to Mahatma Gandhi English medium schools by the previous Congress govt.
