COIMBATORE: Members of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) hoisted black flags at more than 500 of their residences and staged a protest in front of their homes at Anbu Nagar in Ukkadam, Coimbatore city.
They demanded the union govt withdraw the Waqf Amendment Bill on Saturday morning.
Various political parties and Muslim organisations have been protesting against the union govt for implementing the Waqf Amendment Bill.
As part of the protest, more than 300 members of the SDPI gathered at Anbu Nagar in Ukkadam, Coimbatore city, holding black flags in their hands. Mostly women and children took part in the protest.
The protestors demanded the central govt withdraw the Waqf Amendment Bill immediately. They also said they would not give back the rights of Muslims and would continue similar protests until the union govt withdraws the bill.
