Prayagraj: District police authorities on Tuesday claimed to have completed all preparations for the comprehensive civil defence mock drill that will be conducted at 10 spots, including the city, trans-Ganga, and trans-Yamuna pockets of the district on Wednesday. The exercise will involve coordinated participation from multiple agencies, including the police, local administration, fire services, health and disaster response forces. The drill is also aimed at assessing and enhancing emergency response capabilities in case of disasters or other crisis situations.
"These mock drills will help ensure better coordination and readiness among all agencies concerned," said Additional DCP (ADCP) Abhijeet Kumar, adding, "A set of instructions has been issued to conduct the drill. All necessary preparations are being made for the drill, and the motto of the drill is to equip civilians with the knowledge and readiness needed in case of any sort of conflict."
The authorities of the Civil Defence department and other departments are all set to play a key role in coordinating the mock drill and ensuring public participation. As part of the initiative, authorities will assess emergency medical infrastructure, response time and coordination between various agencies in case of mass casualties or large-scale evacuations. The civil defence mock drill is a preparedness exercise that seeks to identify strengths, weaknesses and gaps in the current civil defence preparations during emergencies like war or missile attacks. Officials here claimed that the drill will simulate scenarios like coordinated terrorist attacks, chemical incidents and evacuation procedures. The drill will include five major components.
During civil defence mock drills, it is advised to pay attention only to official announcements on the internet, radio, and TV. Apart from not creating panic, it is advised to stay calm, even if sirens or blackout measures are implemented.
