2 sisters from Rajasthan killed in accident on Delhi-Agra highway

Agra: Two minor sisters from Rajasthan were killed and two others injured in a road accident after the car they were travelling in rammed into an unidentified vehicle on the Delhi-Agra highway in Mathura early Saturday morning.

Police said the victims, residents of Rajasthan's Deeg district, were returning from a wedding in Ghaziabad when the accident occurred near the Dautana flyover around 6:30 am.

A team from Chhata police station reached the spot following an alert and rushed the injured to KD Medical Hospital. Doctors declared Anu Singh (12) and Priya Singh (14) dead on arrival. Their uncle, Umesh Singh (31), who runs a grocery shop, and his wife, Shivani Singh (28), are undergoing treatment.

Deputy superintendent of police Ashish Sharma said, "The vehicle involved in the accident is yet to be traced, but prima facie, it appears to have been a truck. The bodies have been sent for postmortem and the families have been informed. While a formal complaint is awaited, a probe has been initiated by the Chhata police team."
