Former Australia pacer Brett Lee has suggested that in case Mohammed Shami isn't fit till the Border-Gavaskar Trophy begins, India can replace him with express pacer Mayank Yadav in the squad for the crucial five-match Test series. Although Mayank has played just three T20Is, Lee said that high pace is something that no batter likes facing. Speaking to Fox Cricket, Lee opined that no batter in the world is comfortable facing a bowler, who can clock speeds of more than 150 kmph and hence if Shami is not fit, India can include Mayank in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad. Mayank, who garnered a lot of attention with his express pace in IPL 2024, was fast-tracked into the Indian team because of his ability to run in at a fiery pace. "They (Lucknow Super Giants) put him (Mayank) in cotton wool for a bit. The great thing about India is that they are not worried about how much cricket someone has played or hasn't played, if he is ready to go, get him in there. I love that theory. I can tell you that batters are okay when you bowl that 135-140 kmph speed, but when you bowl high 150s, I don't care who it is, no one wants to face that," Lee said. "He looks like someone who is the complete package, if Mohammed Shami is not ready, at least get him in the squad. I think he would do pretty well on these Australian wickets," Lee added. Mayank had recently made his T20I debut for India in the series against Bangladesh. In the three matches, he picked four wickets at an economy of 6.91. He had earlier impressed one and all when he represented the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL earlier this year. Notably, Mayank has played just one first-class game, against Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy in 2022.
