Mahindra Thar Roxx 'VIN 0001' Auctioned For Rs 1.31 Crore

Mahindra & Mahindra earlier announced that the first customer unit of the Thar Roxx with VIN 0001 will be sold at an auction to raise funds for charity. After bidding on September 15 and 16, the off-road capable SUV was sold for Rs 1.31 crore. This is not the first time the Indian automaker has put the first unit of a vehicle under the hammer. Before this, the brand had auctioned the first unit of the three-door Thar in 2020 for Rs 1.11 crore.The VIIN 0001 Mahindra Thar Roxx is based on the top-of-the-line AX7 L diesel 4WD AT variant of the SUV. To set it apart from the rest of the units, the SUV gets VIN 0001 insignia. Furthermore, the brand has also added a special signature badge of Anand Mahindra.Also Read: India-Spec Kia EV9 Features Revealed Ahead Of LaunchThe Mahindra Thar Roxx will have a base price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and a top price of Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the rear-wheel-drive model. The company has not yet revealed the prices for the four-wheel-drive versions of the SUV.The Mahindra Thar Roxx, designed as an off-road capable vehicle, has a rugged appearance with a high bonnet and large wheel arches. Compared to the Thar, the SUV has an additional door, a larger wheelbase, and therefore more interior space. To distinguish it from the three-door version, the SUV features LED DRLs, a distinctive vertical slat grille, and more. These features are enhanced by the availability of various paint options including Everest White, Battleship Grey, Deep Forest Green, Stealth Black, Burnt Sienna, Nebula Blue, and Tango Red.The Mahindra Thar Roxx is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and offers the option of a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine. Both engines can be paired with either a manual or an automatic transmission. The 4x4 powertrain is available only with the diesel engine variants of the SUV.
