It's proving to be a very hot and sticky summer, with heatwaves galore. They can be enjoyable for those who like the sweltering heat, but for those that prefer the cool and the shade, the weather can be quite trying.
Which is where a decent fan comes in handy. Currys has the SHARK FlexBreeze HydroGo FA050UK Portable 6.8" Misting Turbo Fan - Charcoal for £99.99 - down from £129.99, that's £30 off. It's available on Amazon too, but it looks to be popular, and it is out of stock in a few colours.
There is a limited selection still on Amazon, with some options costing from £169.99. The FlexBreeze uses a fancy hydromist technology, so creates a cooling mist that doesn't soak what it comes into contact with, and can cool up to 20m of space. It is also highly portable, so can be easily moved to whichever room is hottest.
For an alternative, try the Living and Home 2-in-1 Electric Quiet Bladeless Tower Fan from Debenhams. The 5 starred bit of kit is £89.99 is super compact so won't take up too much floor space and has a quiet sleep mode, so it won't be disruptive during the night. It also has 10 wind speeds, depending on how much of a breeze is needed.
For a classic desk fan that doesn't come with lots of bells and whistles, Argos has the Bush White Desk Fan - 12 Inch for £22. Again it's portable, has three speed settings and can be tilted up and down to better direct airflow.
One customer said of the SHARK fan: "Worth buying - Worth the money, very ingenious product bonus that its rechargeable and light to carry, well worth the money in my opinion."
Another added: "Dyson vs Shark? Shark wins - I have always had Dyson fans but saw this and thought give it a go. To say I'm loving it is an understatement.
"It is very quiet, fan speeds are great, cools very well, and it's cordless which is amazing as can take it anywhere I need it at home. Would 100% recommend this product."
A third said: "A fan like no other - I am so happy with the fan. I bought it because no other fan seemed able to cool me down quickly enough, and I have not been disappointed.
The variable speeds mean I can still use it when watching TV as it is so quiet and it also works well outside. The water mister is amazing. Really does make it cooler and it doesn't drench you. Well worth the money."
However, one shopper said: "On using this new fan I can say it has not disappointed me, although I will only using it for obvious reasons when the temperature rises. I am however not as thrilled with the misting as it appears to blow to the side ( this could be due to other fans working in close proximity)."
A second said: "No remote - Bought this last week, is a powerful fan however does not have a remote control and not compatible with a remote control even though the website stated it did at time of order."
