Slow Horses finally returns this month for its hotly-anticipated fifth season. Streaming later this month, the new six-part instalment of the BAFTA-winning espionage drama will join the MI5 rejects of Slough House as they deal with a compromised agent and a destabilised London.
The official synopsis reads: "In season five, everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, the London Rules - cover your back - always apply."
Alongside Sir Gary Oldman returning as Jackson Lamb, the season five cast includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, James Callis, Tom Brooke and Jonathan Pryce. Joining the cast for the new episodes is Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed as a special guest star.
Slow Horses has been a huge hit for Apple TV+ since it debuted in 2022, earning an overall score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, with seasons two and four achieving a perfect 100% score. The upcoming season is adapted from London Rules, the next novel in Mick Herron's Slough House book series.
It comes as Adam Randall was recognised for his work on the series at the 77th Emmys earlier this month, where he picked up the award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. The series has already been renewed for two more seasons ahead of the new season premiere, but until then, here's when Slow Horses season five is released and how to watch it for free.
Slow Horses season five will premiere Wednesday, September 24, with the first episode. This will be followed by one new episode weekly through to the finale on October 29.
Slow Horses season five will stream exclusively on Apple TV+, with fans able to tune in for free by signing up for a seven-day free trial. After the promotional period, Apple TV+ will renew at the usual £9.99 per month until cancelled.
However, Slow Horses fans can save £30.88 by opting for an Apple TV+ annual subscription at £89, a significant saving compared to the £119.88 cost of 12 individual monthly payments. Apple also offers three months of Apple TV+ for free when buying an eligible device like the iPhone 17, whether direct from Apple or through retailers like Sky Mobile.
Finally, Apple customers can roll their Apple subscriptions into one Apple One bundle, with the entry-level Apple One Individual plan providing Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade and iCloud+ 50GB for £18.95.
