National commemorations and events for VE Day will begin on 5 May to mark the historic moment the Second World War ended in Europe. Throughout the week, there will be military processions, street parties, concerts, the Red Arrows flypast and a recitation of Winston Churchill's famous VE Day. This will be read by actor Timothy Spall who portrayed the wartime prime minister in the film The King's Speech.
