Almost four years ago, Spider-Man: No Way Home stormed the box office, making almost $2 billion worldwide and becoming Sony's biggest film ever.
Now Tom Holland is back in Spider-Man 4, aka Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the next MCU film to be released in cinemas, but not until July 31, 2026.
The Sony film will also be the last Marvel movie before the big multiverse crossover event, Avengers: Doomsday, which will land on the big screen with a returning Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom in time for Christmas 2026.
Directed by Shang-Chi's Dustin Daniel Cretton, Holland's fourth Peter Parker solo movie is kicking off shooting in Glasgow, which is doubling for New York City.
And now the first teaser trailer has launched to mark the beginning of filming this week.
A caption on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer teases "Something brand new is coming..." As for the eight seconds of footage, a few notes of the theme is played over close up shots of Holland's new Spidey suit. As for the plot, it's rumoured to be more street-level and grounded, with Jon Bernthal reprising The Punisher.
Brand New Day is a Spider-Man comic book storyline set after the world has forgotten him. That fits perfectly as No Way Home concluded with everybody forgetting who Peter Parker is, including MJ, so presumably, Holland's Spidey will be finding a way to restore her memory.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in cinemas on July 31, 2026.
