Autumn has arrived, and with it, the high street is bursting with Halloween-themed decor, from pumpkin-shaped dishes to spooky mugs. But if you want to welcome the season without going all out on witches and ghouls, an autumn wreath is a subtle way to embrace the season.
While a real wreath from a florist can set you back quite a bit (and has a limited life span), Dunelm has a lovely selection of artificial wreaths that are seasonal and pretty, without being garish. And I've found a few that won't break the bank.

If you're looking to include a few pumpkins without going overboard on spooky season, Dunelm has a pretty pinecone wreath interspersed with autumn leaves, berries, and small pumpkins for just £28. It's a subtle nod to the season that could easily stay up until it's time to switch to your Christmas wreath. While the pinecones are real, the pumpkins, leaves, and berries are made from a mix of styrofoam and plastic.
And though it's mostly artificial, shoppers are impressed with how it looks and how well it holds up as the weather changes. In a review, a customer said: "I've been looking for the perfect autumnal wreath for a couple of years. All too plastic and gaudy looking, this is exactly as the picture. It's high quality and weather-durable."
That said, Dunelm recommends bringing it inside during particularly bad weather. If it gets dirty, it can simply be wiped clean with a cloth.
Measuring 41cm, it's a fairly average size, meaning it's perfect for most doors. But Dunelm also suggests using it as a wall hanging or even as a pretty fireplace decoration. It comes with a string attachment for easy hanging, though you can also pick up a door mount or Command hook from Amazon for under £10.

Of course, pumpkins aren't for everyone. If you'd rather lean into the season without being too on-the-nose, Dunelm also has a Chrysanthemum Wreath. This one is made up of a mix of orange and red chrysanthemums, pinecones, foliage, and eye-catching berries. It's a versatile choice that would work well from late September all the way through to December.
Dunelm doesn't specify exactly what the wreath is made from, but shoppers have described it as "well made." For just £30, it's a low-cost option that, unlike a real wreath, will last year after year.
Reviewers have praised its "stunning autumnal colours". One added: "Fantastic autumn wreath, autumnal colours, well made and excellent quality, also was as good as new when put away at the end of autumn until next autumn and ready for the Christmas wreath to take its place, would certainly recommend."
This wreath is slightly larger than the pumpkin and pinecone version at 45cm, but still compact enough to fit a standard door. Dunelm advises hanging it in a sheltered outdoor spot and bringing it indoors during bad weather. It would also work beautifully as an indoor decoration.
It's worth noting that it's not clear whether this wreath comes with a mount or hook, so you may need to buy an extra attachment.
