Queen Camilla has made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon this afternoon. She delighted tennis fans by arriving at SW19, having travelled from an engagement at Buckingham Palace. She was joined by her sister, Annabel Elliot.
The Queen has had a busy few days, participating in four engagements for the French State Visit in Windsor yesterday, including yesterday's late-night banquet, and a further engagement this morning. The King and Queen then travelled to the capital for an engagement at Buckingham Palace this afternoon before heading across London for an afternoon of watching tennis in the sunshine.
On arrival at Wimbledon, Camilla was introduced to key staff members, including Will Brierley, Lead Groundsperson, who has dedicated 20 years of service to the Club and is responsible for the Championship Courts.
She also met Robin Murphy, Lead Gardener, who has recently celebrated 20 years of service and has worked diligently to maintain the more than 50,000 plants during the recent hot weather; and Malin Lundin, Collections Manager, who has been instrumental in bringing Wimbledon's heritage to life through displays that welcome players and guests.
The Queen also met tennis star Novak Djokovic before heading to Centre Court to watch some of today's action.
Camilla waved to crowds as she took her place in the Royal Box, having received a standing ovation and cheers upon entry.
Earlier on Wednesday, the King and President Emmanuel Macron enjoyed a long goodbye as the two men bid farewell after a successful start to the French leader's state visit.
They had been joined by Queen Camilla and Brigitte Macron who exchanged goodbye kisses with the men and the foursome posed for a picture before they parted company.
