, the star of who portrays Claire Fraser, left fans in stitches as she recounted a comical prank that took place on set during the last days of filming. The production of the eighth and final season of the series, anticipated to premiere next year, has recently concluded, prompting heartfelt messages from the cast on social media after shooting over 100 episodes across ten years.

In anticipation of the second part of season 7, Caitriona joined her on-screen husband , who plays Jamie Fraser, at New York Comic Con.

They were accompanied by fellow cast and crew members, including Richard Rankin, who plays Roger Wakefield, and Executive Producer Maril Davis.

During their panel interview on stage, discussions turned to souvenirs from the set, with Sam revealing that he was given Jamie's kilt by the costume department.

Richard expressed his desire to nab one of Roger's "cool coats" while Caitriona was in awe of Claire's numerous costumes, particularly praising the pockets for their utility.

It was then that Richard quipped: "Do you realise, Maril, how much stuff's already been stolen?"

Maril responded with a humorous retort that had the audience chuckling, saying: "I feel like you guys don't think we know when things go missing."

She continued, playfully suggesting that some thefts might be orchestrated by the producers themselves. "But some of that we engineer ourselves. We send things home to you that you might want or might not want..." she said.

Sam pulled back the curtain on a hilarious behind-the-scenes prank involving his co-star Caitriona on the hit show.

He initiated the story with a teasing question to Caitriona, asking: "Did you not get a gift recently?"

Caitriona couldn't help but laugh as she recounted: "I did. I got a wonderful gift from Maril and Matt (Roberts). It was a beautiful bench."

Maril dived into the details, continuing: "There was a particular bench that Caitriona didn't love as much as the rest because it wasn't very comfortable. And we might have sent it to her house after wrapping."

Caitriona quickly defended her character Claire Fraser's taste in set decor, remarking: "Ok, here, in my defence Claire Fraser has always had really, really impeccable taste in furniture."

She emphasised: "It's always been beautiful, it's always been comfortable. She marries the two very well and this just did not stand up to it."

Sam interjected humorously, revealing: "It kept appearing on set and Caitriona would come on and then get them to get rid of it!"

"I kept sending it away!" Caitriona admitted, detailing how she couldn't stand that infamous piece of furniture.

Sam couldn't resist another cheeky jab, adding: "So this poor bench got banished."

Finally, Caitriona shared the twist, saying: "I came home on the last day of wrap and the bench was sitting in my yard."

When asked about the bench's current whereabouts, the actress dodged the question, eliciting Sam's revelation that she "sent it back again".

Maril joined in the fun, jokingly predicting: "And it will follow her for her whole life."

The amusing exchange comes after Outlander released a tear-jerking trailer teasing what's to come in the brand-new episodes of season 7.

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available on Starz and to stream on Prime Video channel MGM+ from Sunday, November 22. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
