son could be about to get a route back into Formula One two years after being dumped by Haas.

Living up to the hype as a Formula One star with the surname Schumacher was always going to be a tough task for Mick and the truth is, the German underwhelmed behind the wheel.

In his two seasons as a full-time Formula One driver, Mick finished 19th and 16th, while picking up a total of 12 points during that time, all of which came in his second campaign.

The decision from Haas to bin him off at the end of 2022 came as no shock to most, apart from Schumacher himself.

Commenting in 2022, the then-23-year-old said: "I don't want to hide the fact that I am very disappointed with the decision not to renew out contract...

"The subject is anything but closed for me. Setbacks only make you stronger. My fire burns for Formula 1 and I will fight hard to return to the starting grid."

Mick's prayers might be about to get answered, with Audi's Mattia Binotto having flirted with a return to the top table for Schumacher Jnr.

Binotto is prepping for Audi's arrival on the Formula One scene in 2026, with the German constructor having already named Nico Hulkenberg - the man who replaced Schumacher at Haas - as one of their two drivers.

But Binotto has revealed Schumacher is on Audi's radar and could be handed their second spot on the grid.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Binotto said: "Definitely, we are evaluating him.

"I have met and talked to him, I have known him for a long time having been part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. I know the merits and advantages of him, he is one of the names we have in mind."

He added: "We have the luxury of not being in a hurry, all the other teams having decided on their lineup.

"Two aspects are essential: on the one hand, experience to set the path of growth. On the other, a young, talented person to accompany us on the way to the top."

The latter route would certainly open the door for Schumacher, who despite spending a couple of years in the motorsport wilderness would still only be 26-years-old when the 2026 season gets underway.
