Meghan Markle breaks silence on surprise solo appearance at LA gala

has revealed the true reason at a children's hospital gala in the US.

The Duchess of Sussex on Saturday attended , where she mingled with other celebrities including Demi Lovato, Kaley Cuoco, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jimmy Kimmel and Colin Hanks.

She was also snapped on the red carpet .

In a new update on the Sussex website, Meghan revealed she was invited to the poignant event as a special guest.

The statement read: "This weekend, Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex attended the biennial Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Gala, an inspiring event dedicated to celebrating the exceptional services provided to children across LA.

"Invited as a special guest by CHLA's president and CEO, Paul Viviano, The Duchess was proud to stand alongside esteemed guests in support of this vital cause."

The statement also highlighted Meghan's personal connection to with the hospital.

It added: "The Duchess has a long-standing connection with CHLA, having visited the hospital on several occasions to meet with patients and participate in the annual Make March Matter campaign.

"Her presence at the gala underscored her commitment to advocating for the health and well-being of children around the world."

The statement concluded: "The evening was a resounding success, reminding us all of the power of community support in improving the lives of those in need. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to CHLA and everyone involved for their dedication and generosity. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families."

For the glitzy event, Meghan went down memory lane and , red heeled sandals and minimal jewellery.

She first wore the dress back in 2021 with an added overskirt to attend the Salute To Freedom Gala in New York with Prince Harry.

The duchess finished the look by styling her hair in loose beach waves and her signature glowy make up.
