When relandscaping your garden, you expect to come across rocks and rubble - but one man got the shock of his life after uncovering something 'forgotten by time'.
He explained how he came across a metal box in his garden and after digging it out further, he noticed how it was big enough to fit an adult human inside.
With this, he jumped to the "only possible explanation" he could think of - a long-lost grave.
He said on Reddit: "I think I've found a grave in my garden. There was a chapel on this site according to 1850-ish OS maps. I've contacted the council-affiliated archaeology group but had no response yet."
The Redditor claims to have spoken to the police about the possible grave - but they're apparently not interested in further investigations unless he comes across bones.
Seeking answers, he added: "I sent a web chat to the police, who sent two coppers round within two hours to my surprise.
"They didn't know what to do with it and seemed satisfied, unless I found any bones that is. Now I have some time just to do some digging this is what I've found.
"The structure is around 3-4 feet deep. About one and a half feet down the walls of the structure get much thicker.
"The bottom is solid and connected to the walls, so essentially the contents are self-contained within it. Any ideas?"
While some users believe it's nothing more than a septic tank, others sought more details to figure out whether it's actually a grave.
One user said: "What orientation is it? That's a good way of working out if a grave or not. On a side note I once found a human skull while digging.
"I made a hole in the cranium by mistake suck my hand in a felt teeth and eye sockets. What a fantastic day. Archaeologists came and dug it up."
In response, he added: "Wow that's mental! It's facing East West."
From this, another user added: "Traditionally churches buried people facing East, towards Jerusalem."
One more user said: "Open it. You either find bones you can piece together again to make a skeleton friend or you hit a cesspit. Either way it's a win for us."
Another user added: "I'm actually a bit concerned that you haven't found a skeleton because the only possible explanation is that the corpse turned into a zombie and is currently at large."
A final user said: "As a specialist in WW2 and cold war era bunkers I recognise this is most definitely, 100% a hole in the ground.
"Keep going and report back your findings, this could be the greatest thing you have ever done in the history of you!"
