One question on left the celebrity players stumped on Sunday. Host presented an all-star line up of the ITV quiz show, as he welcomed actress Su Pollard, comedian , TV presenter AJ Odudu and dancer Jordan Banjo on to tackle one of the six Chasers.
Up first was Su, who landed a respectable £5,000 in her cashbuilder round before going head to head, for a middle offer, against But one question left her stumped. The question was: "In the UK, which of these things done while driving is actually illegal?" The optional answers were driving barefoot, eating or flashing to give way.
Su thought that the answer was B, eating. Bradley agreed as he said: "Yeah, you try driving with your knife and fork, drinking." But then he revealed a huge shock to the contestant as he added: "The correct answer is... Flashing to give way."
Unfortunately for the celebrity player, chaser Jenny Ryan was on the ball and answered correctly. The Hi-De-Hi star could not believe it as she exclaimed: "Oh God!" And Brad added: "I can't believe it."
According to the Highway Code, you should: "Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users." For those on the receiving end of flashing lights, it adds: "Never assume that flashing headlights is a signal inviting you to proceed. Use your own judgement and proceed carefully."
There have been a number of questions on The Chase over the years that have floored fans and players alike. From answers so obvious they left Bradley Walsh banging his head on the table, to shocking mistakes from the Chasers themselves, there have been many moments that have had fans screaming at their TVs.
One question that recently left fans reeling was: "As of 2023, what was the fee for having a star on the Walk of Fame?" The choices given were quite varied: £750, £7,500, or a staggering £75,000. Quick on the draw, contestant Susan from Stoke-on-Trent didn't bat an eye before locking in her answer for the highest amount, boldly stating: "I'm going high. I think those people can afford it." Walsh was quick to doubt her, saying: "I don't think it's that. I think it's B."
The studio was filled with tension as Susan's correct answer was revealed, proving both Walsh and Ryan wrong-a moment that left them as shocked as the audience.
