During a previous episode of , a contestant found himself apologising to his teammate after taking a risky shot at the whopping £100,000 cash prize.
The popular quiz show, hosted by , saw a fresh batch of hopefuls aiming to outsmart the Chasers. With , known as the Sinnerman, in the hot seat, contestants Harry, Alex, Patricia, and Rachel each had a go at amassing a hefty sum for their collective pot.
Despite Alex and Patricia bowing out early, Harry contributed £6,000 to the kitty. It was Rachel's turn that brought tension and drama, however; after earning £5,000, she faced a dilemma with offers of £1,000 and an eye-watering £94,000.
Harry advised against the high offer, suggesting: "No way should you be taking that £94,000 - it is just there to tempt you. I honestly would go with the £1,000. Get back here, we need two people! If we have £1,000 extra, that is money in our pocket."
Rachel, however, couldn't resist the temptation and, despite making her apologies, opted for the £94,000. "Oh Harry! Oh God, I am going to have to do it! I am going to have to go for £94,000. I am sorry, I am so sorry, Harry but £94,000..." she exclaimed.
To Harry's relief and pride, Rachel aced her round and added the substantial amount to their total, reports .
The duo ultimately competed for a £100,000 prize in the final round, successfully reaching 16 steps and even pushing the Sinnerman back once.
However, with only 16 seconds left, the Sinnerman caught up, and they lost the substantial prize.
Paul praised their efforts, saying, "Unlucky! Superb playing and the game was a pleasure! I had to be on my game there, the questions were really tricky."
In another episode, a contestant named Dan made history with his last-minute answer. After his teammates were eliminated, Dan chose the high offer from Chaser , bringing £80,000 to the final round.
The Vixen was close behind until she had to pass on her 17th question. With only four seconds left, Bradley asked Dan about the namesake of Israel's main airport, and Dan correctly answered, "David Ben-Gurion."
Bradley exclaimed, "Unbelievable! " This pushed Jenny back, leaving her with four seconds to answer two questions to catch Dan.
In the end, the Vixen gained one step back but couldn't catch Dan, who won the £80,000 jackpot alone. Bradley told Dan that he had broken the record for the highest amount won by a single player.
