Mary Berry is known for both her simple recipes and those that are a bit more extravagant. One example of the former is her simple fork biscuits, which require just three ingredients. She first shared this recipe in My Kitchen Table: 100 Sweet Treats and Puds, and it was later reshared on .
These are one of Mary's favourite biscuit recipes, and introducing this recipe, she wrote: "These biscuits first made their appearance in an old red Cordon Bleu cookery book, and I've been making them for years." And, after finding this recipe I decided to give it a go - after all it is super simple and takes just 15 minutes.
This low-effort recipe was just as easy as it seemed, and I was able to make the biscuits while also watching the second Eurovision semi-final rather than having to concentrate solely on my baking.
However, I did run into some trouble when it came to forming the balls of dough, as my dough decided it didn't particularly want to cooperate, so my biscuits weren't quite as uniform as Mary's.
But while they may not look the best, these biscuits were delicious, and are ones I'll definitely be making again.

- 100g of butter, softened
- 50g of caster sugar
- 150g of self-raising flour
Start by preheating the oven 180°C /fan 160°C/ gas 4, and lightly butter two baking trays.
Measure out the butter and place into a bowl, and beat to soften. Then, gradually add in the sugar, followed by the flour. Bring the mixture together in your hands to form a dough.
Form 16 balls from the dough, all about the size of a walnut and place well apart on the baking trays. Before in the other, grab a fork and dip it in a little water and use this to flatten the biscuits.
Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until pale golden.
Once finished baking in the oven, place the biscuits on a wire rack while they cool. Then serve, or save for later.
