Good Morning Britain invited writer and satirist Nels Abbey back onto the programme this morning (Wednesday, October 29), but ITV viewers threatened to switch off. He appeared on Tuesday's instalment of the programme and was met with a wave of criticism over his views as he clashed with host Ed Balls live on air following his comments on the news that asylum seekers could be moved and housed in barracks.
When viewers saw he'd been invited back today, someone who tuned into the episode wrote on X: "Nels Abbey in a nutshell 'an opinion on everything with knowledge about nothing.'"
A second wrote: "For the Second morning running, we have had to resort to the BBC when Nels Abbey is gabbling at us. His weird views aside, he literally gives us a headache. The sound of his voice obviously delights him, but it's exhausting for the rest of us!"
A third added: "Again, NELS ABBEY devil's advocate playing no solution PLONKER talking rubbish on your programme?? Time to switch channels."
"I actually changed channels when he opens his mouth, you must be short of people to interview," another said.
A guest who tuned in on Tuesday branded the author "insufferable" in an animated X post.
Despite the backlash, one person penned: "NELS ABBEY, the commentator on today was making a lot of sense -- and speaking truth, not rhetoric. Ed Balls is showing that he is establishment and pushing back with faux outrage, by twisting the point 'we are the gangs'. Yes, we bomb countries."
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays between 6am and 9am on ITV and ITVX.
