A globetrotting tourist has laid into the "boring" and recommended that tourists stay for "no more than three days". Eva, otherwise known as @travelgirl423 on TikTok, revealed six locations she would never return to based on her extensive travels.
Typical tourist hotspots - and Los Angeles - left Eva feeling deflated. But the Canary Islands earned a particularly disappointing review. Despite welcoming more than a million tourists every month, Eva said there was a lack of activities on the islands, and she quickly got bored.
She wrote: "The beaches are gorgeous but there's literally nothing else to do and the food wasn't great. It got boring real quick, I wouldn't recommend going for more than three days."
However, not everyone agreed with the cutting review, with one person quipping: "I've been to all of them and you can make it as adventurous or as quiet as you want. I'll refrain from the rest of ur recommendations."
Another added: "The Canary Islands are stunning - the north of Tenerife and the villages are beautiful and some of the best most authentic Spanish food. Just gotta do your research and think outside the box."
However, one visitor agreed with Eva, responding: "I went to Gran Canaria and I agree it was a very boring holiday and the food was bad lol, really beautiful island though."
The Canary Islands are so popular among tourists that locals have been demanding a cap on tourist numbers to maintain the environment and culture of the islands.
Most recently, organised by activist group, 'Canarias tiene un limite'.
Locals demanded tourism regulations, raising concerns that there is a lack of affordable housing, given that many homes were swept up by investors to use as holiday lets.
There is also frustration over the environment, with the island's infrastructure unable to support the huge swathes of tourists who visit in peak season.
