Gary Lineker goes on 'ridiculous' Match of the Day rant as Alan Shearer left laughing

couldn't help but laugh when launched into a passionate rant while discussing 's win over on Match of the Day. The Bees staged a comeback to secure a dramatic 4-3 victory after falling behind in the first half.

Sam Szmodics and George Hirst gave Ipswich an early lead before Brentford drew level with two quick goals at the end of the first half. Yoane Wissa finished a sweeping move for the first and was unlucky not to be credited for the second, which went down as an own goal by Harry Clarke.

Bryan Mbeumo struck again for Brentford in the second half before Clarke was sent off for a second bookable offence. Ipswich thought they had grabbed a leveller through Liam Delap but Mbeumo found a last-gasp winner for Brentford in stoppage time.

Discussing the game on Match of the Day, Lineker made it clear that he thought Wissa should have been credited for Brentford's second goal. His shot was on target but Clarke was the last player to touch the ball as he slid across the line in an attempt to block it.

"We must get that goal to Wissa," said Lineker. "It's ridiculous that it's been taken away from him. I don't know who decides whether someone actually scores or not. Who makes these decisions?"

Shearer was heard laughing in the background as Lineker continued his rant, saying: "Come on, it's Wissa's goal. Nobody wants to score an own goal, he wants to score it. Do the right thing."

Wissa said after the final whistle at the Gtech Community Stadium that he would seek clarification over the credit for the goal. He also hailed the determination of his Brentford team-mates to come from behind and maintain their unbeaten run at home.

"I think it has been given as an own goal but I will apply for it," said Wissa. "I shot at the target and, if the defender did not touch the ball, it would have still gone in so I need to find out with the commission if I can have the second one.

"The first goal gave us a needed boost because they did well to defend. After the first goal, we knew we had to keep running and try hard to get something quickly. We got the second one just before half-time and then just after the penalty.

"Psychologically, it means a lot. We know the is never easy and it is crazy that with 10 men they keep going and pushing, but we didn't look back and tried to score again.

"Today the game was really long, almost 100 minutes across both halves, so we are very happy with the win and we need to enjoy it."
