Ten fire engines and 70 firefighters are currently battling a huge blaze in Enfield, with three children taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. The whole of the roof is alight and most of the second floor of a three-storey block of flats. Two of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders are being used as water towers to help extinguish the fire from height.
The Brigade's 999 Control officers received their first call about the fire at 0519. They mobilised crews from Enfield, Edmonton, Chingford, Tottenham, Woodford, Southgate fire stations. Two fire engines from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
