made a heartfelt vow to stand by her ex, , following a health scare last year that saw him rushed to the hospital with a serious kidney infection. The former star, who had been preparing for a major tour across South America last year, was forced to cancel all dates after being hospitalised.
after reportedly falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.
His sudden health issues left his family and friends, including his mother, Karen Payne, and his ex, Cheryl, deeply concerned.
Liam's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, had been by his side throughout the ordeal and shared an uplifting update on his condition. In a TikTok video, Kate, while getting ready for a London Fashion Week event, took a moment to reassure Liam's fans that he was on the road to recovery.
"So I've gotten a lot of comments about Liam, asking how he's doing, and I just want to let everybody know that he's doing so much better," she said. "He is out of the hospital and he is in good hands."
However, Cheryl, who shares a six-year-old son, Bear, with Liam, was reportedly left "upset" and deeply affected by the news of his health scare.
According to a source close to the singer, Cheryl had always been supportive of Liam, especially as the father of her child, and the situation had hit her hard.
"Cheryl is a strong person, she's very kind and she just wants Liam to be happy and healthy," a source told OK! magazine. "She's always tried to support him because he's Bear's father and she's always tried to be there for him. It's very hard for Cheryl - she feels upset about it. She is worried and concerned for Liam because he's Bear's dad and she wants him to be the best dad he can be."
Liam and Cheryl, who split in July 2018 after more than two years of dating, had remained on good terms to co-parent their son.
Liam had been scheduled to kick off his South American tour on September 1 in Peru, with additional dates in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico. However, days before the tour was set to begin, he posted a video on Instagram explaining that his health had taken a serious turn and he would need to cancel the shows.
"Hey guys this really is the last news I want to be telling you but basically I've been a little bit unwell recently and I ended up in the hospital with a bad kidney infection," he shared in the video. "We've started rehearsals and I've just been advised that now's really not the right time to be out on the road trying to recover from this."
He continued, "The best people around me are trying to help me recover as we speak but yeah we're going to have to reschedule it all. Please look out for ways to refund your tickets. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys soon. Hopefully, we'll put on an even bigger and better show. Thank you and sorry."
