appear to be wasting no time in putting their 2025 summer transfer window plans into place, with Morgan Rogers reportedly emerging as a top target for the Blues. Rogers has enjoyed a stellar season with , registering 16 goal contributions in 33 appearances so far.
It was revealed earlier this week that Chelsea were , even though Villa are keen to keep hold of the 22-year-old. Their negotiating position could be hampered if Unai Emery and co. finish outside of the qualification positions this season, especially if Chelsea pip them to one of the five spots instead.
Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) may also force Villa into a sale, as they look to balance their books in an attempt to avoid a punishment from the Premier League. The strict financial restrictions could mean clubs have to "churn" out transfers and sell players they otherwise would've been able to keep.
Pressure on Villa's wage bill may also influence their decision-making, meaning an avenue for Rogers to join Chelsea could be about to open up. And should the two-time European champions push forward with a move, Chelsea may already have a secret weapon to help land Rogers.

That's because Axel Disasi, who is currently on loan at Villa, could be used as a makeweight in the Rogers deal. For PSR purposes, it's unlikely a straight swap deal would take place between the two clubs, but Chelsea may be able to snatch Rogers for a cheaper price, should they make Disasi available for a permanent move to Villa Park this summer.
Disasi joined Chelsea from Monaco ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, with the capital club splashing £38million on his signature. The Frenchman made 61 appearances in the 18 months he spent at the Stamford Bridge outfit, before joining Villa on a short-term deal in January earlier this year.
Since arriving at the former European champions, Disasi has played 10 times for the Villans. He played in three out of the four Champions League knockout clashes Villa competed in, sitting out the second leg against last month.
Chelsea's push to qualify for next season's Champions League continues when they take on recently-crowned champions Liverpool on Sunday.
