Dan Walker has described his reconciliation with former BBC Breakfast co-host Louise Minchin as a "treat". The pair reunited on Channel 5 this evening (September 24) to discuss the latter's new novel.

Dan, 47, and Louise, 56, previously held court on the BBC Breakfast sofa from 2016 up until the latter's departure in 2021. 10 months after the mother-of-two bid an emotional farewell to the programme, Dan followed in her footsteps.

Taking to social media ahead of their Channel 5 News appearance, Dan posted a series of images of him and Louise to Instagram. In the photographs, taken in the studio, the pair could be seen laughing and taking selfies together.

Alongside the carousel, the father-of-three wrote to his 306,000 followers: "WE'RE BACK. What a treat to have @louiseminchin in the @c5news studio talking about her brilliant new novel - Isolation Island.

"Far too much fun... she's on tonight at 5 on 5." Meanwhile, Louise has posted her own update to social media.

In a clip, shared with her 142,000 followers, the author can be seen roaming around the studio claiming: "Look who I've found".

She then turns the camera on to Dan, who says: "We're back. And she's come in the right colour look she's perfectly toned with 5 News.

Fans have been gushing about the pair's reunion, with one Instagram user writing: "You need to get back together!! Best news duo."

A second typed: "So good to see you both together again..... 5 News with Dan & Louise."

"Looking good together and loving the selfie taking. Miss this about you two," commented someone else.

Another claimed: "Delighted to hear it Louise you are both a great team, have a lovely relaxing evening."

Earlier this month, Dan shared a heartfelt message to the news anchor on her 56th birthday.

"Happy Birthday to the former queen of the Breakfast sofa... the one and only @louiseminchin. She's really clever too and has just written a novel," he typed.

Following Louise's exit from BBC Breakfast, she has been focusing on other projects such as her debut novel, Isolation Island, and appeared on the 21st series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

She was the fifth celebrity to be voted off the show which was held in North Wales due to the Covid pandemic.

Following Louise's stint on the show, Dan admitted that he had no desire to follow in her footsteps.

"I really don't like snakes," he told a user on Instagram who asked if he would be keen.

In a recent interview with Best magazine, Louise revealed she wanted her next celebrity reality show stint to be Race Across the World.

"The one I would really love to do is Race Across the World - I'd love to do that with one of my daughters - it would be so much fun," she admitted.
