In a bid to simplify the travel experience, Indian Railways is set to release a "super app" by December, offering a one-stop platform for various passenger services, including ticket booking, platform pass purchases, and real-time train tracking. Officials confirmed that the app is being developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) and will integrate seamlessly with the existing IRCTC systems for a smoother, more efficient experience.

Bringing All Services Under One Roof Currently, passengers rely on different apps for specific services, like IRCTC Rail Connect for ticket booking, IRCTC eCatering Food on Track for food orders, Rail Madad for support, the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS), and the National Train Enquiry System for updates. This new super app will bring all these services together, providing a unified digital experience for users.

An official explained, "IRCTC will still act as the interface between CRIS and passengers booking train tickets. Integration between IRCTC and the new super app is already in progress.” By consolidating these separate apps, Indian Railways aims to make services easily accessible and user-friendly for passengers.

Boosting Revenue for IRCTC IRCTC Rail Connect, the primary app for reserved ticket booking, has over 100 million downloads and remains the most popular choice among railway users. The upcoming super app is expected to create new revenue opportunities for IRCTC, as it upgrades its technical framework to accommodate the expanded platform.

A senior IRCTC official said, “The super app is viewed as an additional channel for generating revenue.” With IRCTC at the core, this new platform could enhance its financial outlook while providing better service options for travelers.
