Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a new underground Metro line in Pune on September 26. The new corridor will run from Civil Court to Swargate, extending the current rail services from PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation) to Swargate. Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a new elevated route, further expanding the Pune Metro network.
About the Upcoming Pune Metro Route The new phase of the Pune Metro, running from Civil Court to Swargate, will improve travel for thousands of daily passengers. The route will pass through key stations such as Budhwar Peth and Manda, ensuring smoother commutes for residents and visitors.
"We are actively working on new phases for the Pune Metro. During the recent Ganpati festival, around 3.5 lakh people used the Metro for immersions. PM Modi will not only inaugurate this new underground route but will also perform the 'bhumipujan' for an elevated section," a source said. "Pune is on track to become one of the top urban centers with excellent transportation facilities," they added.
Details of PM Modi’s Pune Visit Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on September 21 that Prime Minister Modi will be inaugurating the new underground Metro corridor. Along with the foundation stone ceremony for an elevated line, the Prime Minister is expected to address a gathering in Pune during his visit.
