Most people have a nightmare first datestory, one they wish they could forget all about. However, one couple might feel differently because their worst date turned out to be the beginning of their 18-year relationship. The unusual story came to light after a Reddit user asked people to share their most cringeworthy stories.
Posting on the platform, the social media user wrote: "What happened on your worst first date ever?" In response, someone explained why their worst first date happened to be memorable for more than one reason.
The Reddit user claimed: "We were 16 years old, meeting at Panera. I grabbed a table by the window as I arrived first. 5 minutes later, I see her arrive in her Mercury Sable, sloooowly pulling into a spot, and promptly smacking the Jeep Grand Cherokee parked next to her."

Fortunately, the embarrassing moment didn't put a damper on the couple's first date. However, it did mean the date got off to a less-than-ideal start, which is the opposite of what you want when you're trying to make a good impression.
Explaining what happened next, the social media user wrote: "To her credit, she left a note on the window, then told the front counter employee who made multiple announcements over the intercom.

"Nobody ever called her or walked up to the counter, though there was no perceivable damage to the Jeep’s bumper where she bonked it (which had its own share of body damage already)."
Despite the drama, the story had a happy ending. The post concluded: "We’re having our 18 year anniversary this year." Reddit users loved the story, and while nobody would like to find themselves in the same situation, someone suggested the incident helped demonstrate the woman's character.
The response read: "I was gonna say her leaving a note and notifying the restaurant was a huge green flag lol." Reacting to the post, another reader replied: "I was half expecting it to be your Jeep lol."
Other commenters also shared their own dating horror stories on the thread. A different response read: "This was in 2005. He took me to the mall and had me watch him play dance dance revolution.
"I was not allowed to play with him because I was not good. He just wanted me to watch, this went on for 45+ minutes. He was annoyed I wanted to leave."
Someone else shared: "First date was a at a popup food event. The second we sat down he busted out a mini light set up and started live streaming it for his food blog."
