Married since January 22, 2005, the pair's lack of chemistry has sparked speculation online, with one user likening them to "actors without chemistry" and others suggesting that Melania's appearance might have been a paid gig rather than her own choice.

Marking Melania's first speech this election cycle at a Trump event, the online crowd was unimpressed. One tweet from @NikkisBubble highlighted the "awkward non-kiss" and " hug" which left social media with visual discomfort.

Social media was filled with speculation after Melania and Donald Trump's public display, with one user commenting: "Barely kisses him. Awkward hug. Another weighed in and related her disinterest to that of greeting a father-in-law, adding: "She kissed in him like she was greeting her father-in-law or a friend's husband. Air kisses."

The original poster speculated about financial incentives and suggested Melania may have been paid to appear, and kiss, her husband. "I think she was paid enough for a lip kiss but he's so used to not getting those he didn't know what to do," they wrote.
