Emma Raducanu has bounced back in style to swiftly reclaim the British No. 1 title she lost at Wimbledon. The 22-year-old has shown her resilience, looking back to her best in recent weeks.
She met her match in top seed Aryna Sabalenka in SW19, falling to the Belarusian in straight sets in the third round. This defeat cost Raducanu a guaranteed £240,000 in prize money, instead earning £152k, and threatened to derail her regained momentum.
But as her performances at the Citi Open in Washington DC have demonstrated, that's not been the case. She followed up her first-round victory over Marta Kostyuk with another straight-sets win against Naomi Osaka on Thursday, graciously praising the four-time Grand Slam champion after the match.

Her progression to the quarter-finals means she will once again be the highest-ranked British woman, surpassing Katie Boulter. Raducanu had previously toppled Boulter's two-year reign last month before slipping behind her compatriot, with Sonay Kartal also moving ahead of her, reports the Express.
Raducanu now has the chance to re-enter the world's top 40. Regardless, she'll be ranked higher than Boulter following her first-round defeat to Maria Sakkari, while Kartal hasn't been in action.
Next up for the 2021 US Open champion is Sakkari. In their three previous encounters, the Greek player has yet to take a set off Raducanu.
After securing her third consecutive victory over her at the Dubai Duty Free Championships in February, Raducanu said: "I was really pleased with how I fought and competed against Maria, she's a top player, been as high as three in the world.

"I'm just really proud of my performance. I think in a way we play quite similar. She's really athletic. I'm not necessarily going to give all my tactics away.
"It's just a very difficult match every time we play, so I'm happy to have won on all these occasions in all big tournaments and very happy to get through to the next round."
Raducanu is also chasing success in the Citi Open doubles alongside Elena Rybakina, having advanced to the semi-finals following a win over Giuliana Olmos and Aldila Sutjiadi. They're set to face the formidable second-seeded duo of Shuai Zhang and Taylor Townsend next.
Raducanu's hitting form at a good time ahead of the US Open getting underway next month. She's also taking part in doubles competition at Flushing Meadows - with Carlos Alcaraz in the newly revamped mixed tournament, which will take place before the singles gets underway.
Since claiming a stunning victory in New York four years ago, Raducanu has failed to add to her Grand Slam tally amid various injury issues and countless coaching changes.
She remains without a coach in Washington, with her partnership with Mark Petchey up in the air. But it hasn't yet impacted her game, which bodes well heading into the final major of the year.
