China has reacted to Donald Trump's "bullying" by up to a huge 125%, which will take effect from tomorrow.
The yesterday was forced to pause his tariffs on most nations at 10% as he faced volatile financial markets who had been pushing him to reconsider. Despite from his position, he further increased the tax rate on imports to a staggering 125%. In response, the State Council Tariff Commission has now responded with its own massive tax hike to the same 125% on US imports, as itof "violating basic economic laws and common sense."

Chinese president Xi Xi Jinping said in a statement to CCTV, China’s state broadcaster, the nation is “not afraid”. He added: “There are no winners in a trade war, and going against the will only lead to self-isolation.
"For over 70 years, China's development has relied on self-reliance and hard work—never on handouts from others, and it is not afraid of any unjust suppression.”
The commission said in a statement: "The US's imposition of abnormally high tariffs on seriously violates international economic and trade rules, and also violates basic economic laws and common sense. It is a completely unilateral bullying and coercive practice.
"In accordance with the "Tariff Law of the People's Republic of China", "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China", "Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China" and other laws and regulations and basic principles of international law, with the approval of the State Council, from April 12, 2025, the tariff measures on imported goods originating from the United States will be adjusted."
Trump had earlier written on his Truth Social: “Based on the lack of respect China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately.
"At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize the days of ripping off the USA., and other countries is no longer sustainable or acceptable.
"Conversely, and based on the more than 75 countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs, and these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately.
"Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
Trump told reporters he had pulled back on many global tariffs, ignoring China, because people were “yippy” and “afraid” due to stock market declines. He added: "The bond market is very tricky.
"I was watching it. But if you look at it now, it’s beautiful.”
