Chilling CCTV shows missing woman's final hours before she was found dead in river

Just hours before, Crystal was at dinner with her former partner and son in the . The trio stayed together until around 9:30pm when Crystal got out of a car in Brisbane’s West End.

In CCTV footage Crystal, 49, can be seen in beige sandals and a white dress at a restaurant. Police believe it is the last sign of Crystal on the night she was found dead.

“We’ve reviewed probably 1000 hours of CCTV on that night,” said Detective Acting Inspector Rod Watts, according to News.com.au. “There are some other CCTV captures of her around Annerley where she got out of the vehicle, but from there, into West End… we are yet to piece together what’s actually happened."

He added: “We’re still yet to capture or piece together the exact movements of Crystal around Ryan St, West End at that 9.30pm mark, and how or where she entered the Brisbane River. If the route was taken, and if she was on foot, we would have captured her on CCTV… but at this point in time, we’re yet to actually see her walking anywhere in that vicinity.”

Inspector Watts said injuries reviewed in post-mortem indicated the death is "suspicious”. Her sandal and “other personal belongings” were discovered in a park close to the area.

“It’s simply a woman going about her own business on what would seem a safe street, and that’s the piece of the puzzle that we’re yet to understand, how in fact she’s ended up in the river,” the top cop said. “We have a number of lines of inquiry, and we’re keeping an open mind into suspects, it’s quite baffling that we don’t know what her final movements are.”

The inspector urged people including local fisherman to come forward with any information. “Any information, be it small, my message is to contact the police,” he said. “That tiny piece of information may make a big difference in our investigation and help us piece together Crystal’s final movements and what’s happened to her.”
