Malappuram(Kerala) | Trinamool Congress state convener P V Anvar on Saturday hit out at the ruling Left and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on various issues, including the alleged move to make ADGP M R Ajithkumar the next state police chief (SPC).
Anvar, at a press conference, questioned why the CM was "adamant" on appointing Ajithkumar as the SPC.
He also claimed that, according to news reports, the state government has not yet forwarded to the Centre the vigilance clearance report in respect of Yogesh Gupta IPS, presently the Director General of Kerala Fire and Rescue Service, who is also among the officers being considered for the post of SPC.
Anvar alleged that the state government was "deliberately" delaying the forwarding of the vigilance report despite several communications from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) asking for it.
The CM, the state government, and the CPI(M) have not yet responded to Anvar's allegations and contentions.
Anvar also claimed that he had not been given a report with regard to his complaints about Ajithkumar and some other senior police officers in the state.
"I am waiting for the bypoll results and then will approach the High Court," he contended.
Regarding the Nilambur bypoll, whose results will be known on June 23, Anvar claimed that it was due to his efforts that the LDF ministers and other MLAs of Kerala were forced to go to each home in the constituency "to beg for votes".
"I showed them the value of the people. I have won. What other victory do I need? What else is needed?" he contended.
The bypoll was necessitated after Anvar resigned as MLA following the severing of ties with the LDF after he made allegations against the CM and his close aides.
