Agra Fort
At the top of the list is the magnificent Agra Fort, also known as the Red Fort. As soon as people hear the name of Agra, the picture of the Taj Mahal starts forming in their minds. But the Agra Fort is also a great place for tourists. The fort is an architectural beauty built of red sandstone. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the fort is visited by a huge number of tourists every year. The Agra Fort was built by the famous Mughal king Akbar in 1565 which makes it an important part of history.

Allahabad (Prayagraj) Fort
The Allahabad Fort, built at the confluence of 3 rivers Ganga-Yamuna-Saraswati, is very amazing and world-famous to look at. Here the Ganga-Yamuna rivers can be seen clearly, while Saraswati is invisible. Considered to be the most excellent in its time, this fort was built by the Mughal emperor Akbar in 1583. At present, only a part of this fort is open for tourists. The rest of the part is used by the Indian Army. This fort has three large galleries where there are high minarets. It is said that there is Akshay Vat i.e. immortal tree in the fort. People coming here are desperate to see it. However, this tree is in the restricted area of the fort, where special permission has to be taken from the authorities to reach it.

Jhansi Fort
This majestic hill fort was built in 1613 by Raja Bir Singh Deo of Orchha. The fort is surrounded by a massive granite wall which forms a part of its fortification. There are ten gates, each named after a ruler or a milestone of the state. Some of the gates have deteriorated over time, but some still exist such as Jharna Gate, Chand Gate, Datia Darwaza, Lakshmi Gate, and Sainyar Gate.

Ramnagar Fort
Ramnagar Fort is located in Varanasi on the eastern bank of the river Ganges. Built in the year 1750 by Raja Balwant Singh, this fort is an example of typical Mughal architecture. This fort is made of butter-coloured Chunar sandstone. At present, this fort is not in good condition. This fort and its museum are a treasure trove of the history of Banaras. Since the beginning, this fort has been the residence of the King of Kashi.

Chunar Fort
Chunar, located on the banks of the Ganga at a distance of 35 km from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, has been a witness to a glorious history. It is said that this fort is thousands of years old. Later, this fort was renovated by King Vikramaditya of Ujjain. The historical fort of Chunar not only fulfills the responsibility of protecting the city but also protects the existence of the city. It is said that King Vikramaditya built this fort for his brother King Bhartrihari. It is said to be related to mythological stories like the Vamana incarnation of Lord Vishnu, while ancient literature also mentions that this fort was built by King Vikramaditya for his brother Raja Bhartrihari.

Butler Palace
The Butler Palace is a grand palace located in Lucknow. The foundation of this magnificent building was laid in 1915 by Sir Harcourt Butler, the Deputy Commissioner of Awadh. Initially built by Raja Mohammed Ali Mohammed Khan, it was later used by Sir Harcourt as his residence. However, the construction of three major buildings remained incomplete due to floods on the Gomti River. There is a tank in front of the palace with beautiful-looking chhatris and fountains.

Kuchesar Fort
Also known as Rao Raj Vilas, this fort is an 18th-century fort. This legendary heritage is the ancestral property of the family of Ajit Singh who had a princely state in Kuchesar. Built in 1734, this fort is surrounded by mango orchards spread over 100 acres. This fort also remained under the Mughal Empire and the British Empire for many years. It was finally donated by the Mughal rulers to the Jat family, Ajit Singh's family and since then it has been their ancestral property. You will also get a glimpse of Mughal architecture in many parts of this fort. There are dense, green farms all around the fort.
