Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Odisha's Koraput district seized a massive consignment of cannabis valued at approximately ₹10 crore. The contraband was being smuggled from the Buding forest area to Rajasthan.
About The Operation
Acting swiftly on a tip-off, a police team launched a special operation and intercepted a truck disguised as a carrier for plant saplings. Upon thorough inspection, officers discovered cannabis with an estimated local market value of over ₹3 crore. However, officials noted that the consignment’s worth could exceed ₹10 crore in other states.
The truck driver has been taken into custody, while others involved in the smuggling operation managed to flee the scene. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to uncover the full extent of the interstate smuggling network. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend all individuals linked to the racket.
